Create stop motion animation by taping a still object, turning off the recording, moving the object a small amount, recording again and repeating the process. Creating sound effects and voices for these animation projects can help you bring your stop motion animation projects to life. It requires having already made your stop motion animation project without sound and having uploaded it to a computer already.
Watch your stop motion animation project footage on your computer and brainstorm the type of voices and sound effects you want to create for your animation. Write down ideas for the sounds of the voices, the dialogue and the sound effects.
Pick specific moments on your time line where you want to include your sound effects and voices. Write down the time in minutes and seconds as well as the duration of the sound. Arrange these in chronological order to make sure you time them properly.
Open your sound recording software and plug in your microphone into the input. Find and click on the “Test Input” button on your software. This button may vary in location on your software but will usually be in the “Sound” menu on the top menu.
Speak into the microphone following the directions displayed on screen by your program. Finish up the testing procedures and hit “OK” when you are done.
Click on “File” and select “New” to start a new recording process. Press the “Record' button and read your first line of dialog. Listen back to it and re-record it as many times as necessary.
Click “File” and then “Save” to open up the save text box. Type the name of your first dialog and hit “OK.” Include character name and time locations in your name.
Record all of your dialog using this same procedure. Right click on your Desktop and click “Create New Folder.” Type in the phrase “Dialogue” and drag all your dialog here to make it easier to locate later.
Create a new folder on the Desktop, name it “Sound Effects' and drag all your sound effect files into the folder for easier access.
Start your video software, click on “File” and then on “Open Project.” Select your stop motion animation project and wait for it to load all the video animation into the video timeline.
Click on “File” and select “Import Sounds” and then “Add Folder.” Select your sound effects folder and your dialog folder and click “OK” to add them to your project. Select these from the “Sound” display on your main project page.
Select your voices and sound effects from the “Sound” display and drag them to the “Sound Timeline” underneath your “Video Timeline.” Position these on the line in the correct time position you indicated in your notes.
Listen to each voice and sound effect after you place it. Click and drag it to a new spot on the timeline to make it match the action more fully.
Watch your video and listen to your sounds to make sure the video and sounds match up. Re-record any sound effects or voices that do not match perfectly and re-import them using the same method as before.
Watch the finished animation and sound to see if it needs any additional dialog or sound effects. Add these if necessary.

The best way to discover how to use effects on your music is to experiment. The more you play around with the different settings, the more familiar you’ll become with how each effect operates. Then you can get creative and come up with the best ways of using effects for your music.
The Bypass button on your effects processor is your friend. With a press of this button, you can quickly turn off the effect to your signal. Use it to check your effect settings against your original signal. Sometimes you’ll like the original sound better.
For an effects processor to work on your sound source, you need to connect the processor properly. Regardless of the type of signal processor or recording system you’re using, you have the option of connecting your processor directly into the channel strip (called a line or insert effect) or routing it through your aux bus (a send/return effect).
